"First Snow of the New Year "2003"!"
We had rain most of the day yesterday for the 6th day of January, but it surprised me to see the white flurries coming down last night.
It's a rare occasion when we see snow around this area, so it really brings attention when it does happen. I remember a few years back when we had a couple inches that stuck, and they closed the roads to prevent more accidents. It's not like we have snow tires, chains, and equipment to keep the roads clear and safe. I've lived up north for a few years when I was a child, and I'm still grateful I never had to drive in that kind of weather.
I looked outside a while ago, and even though the sun hasn't come up yet ... there's no trace of the flurries that were pouring down when Jerry left for work last night. The ground and roads were so wet from the rain we had, I didn't really expect to see anything stick. There was ice on the car the last few nights, so the frost hasn't been a total stranger.
Maybe the show we saw last night was a preview for what the rest of the winter will bring. I'm staying bundled up inside and have no intentions of building any snow men in my yard this year. Some of my friends up north have posted pictures on their sites of the snow they've had. I'll add some to Hertford Online if we have any snow that sticks to the ground. I enjoy seeing other people's snow images, but it won't hurt my feelings if we miss having any over here.
